Currently addicted to vegan "What I eat in a Day" videos, I'm affirmed constantly that the good of one is the good of all. I see this in scenario after scenario daily, and I'm starting to feel it is a metaphysical version of Newtonian scale.
The TRUE good of one part of creation is the ultimate best good of another. I know my sweet Valentine tonight wants a ribeye steak...that is a current law of the physical universe at this time that I can guarantee more so than gravity... but more and more carefully I'm realizing the spectrum of this and how it plays out for us carnivores. The better the animal is treated the better it is ultimately nutritious. And, at the best and most compassionate end of this projection is a world where we find far better nutrition, and salty seared flavor from something far less gruesome than murdering another sentient being with a will to live.
I'm sorry to drag both of us down into this dark reality.
I learning more and more, we would also would find there, a restored planet with a population no longer struggling with epidemics of heart disease and diabetes.
On a brighter note this same truth played itself out for the betterment of all concerning an environmental client of mine. It turns out the disposal of one "waste" product by some, can be lightly processed by him and recycled into another product in high demand. This prevents the mining of this material, the heavy use of energy required to create the product from raw material, and a closer vicinity for consumer also reducing overall energy requirements.
And, again with Sun Tzu's Art of War, what an incomprehensible waste of time and resources go to the nine battlegrounds when we could spend far less blood and monetary currency one a single mission. "Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, for all the people you can, as long as ever you can." Thanks, Wesley.
What is best for your brother... what is best for our world... these are the questions we must ask ourselves in how we love our selves better as well. If it is bad for the planet or our neighbors, chances are it is only lipstick on a pig for us as well. I end this with a pup pic, because dogs are so, so good at love.
