Let's face it, it's still pretty hot. The leaves may be falling from lack of rain right now, but they are still falling, and in my head they dance downward to the first song on the album “Autumn” by George Winston. Every now and then you get this whiff of fall, a morning chill, and the feeling of the impending sophisticated pleasure of scarf-wearing.
So guys and gals, put on that scarf, grab a pumpkin latte, light the apple spice candle! Here are four must-do activities for October in Chester!
1. Making memories and decor!
Fall in the piedmont prerequisite? Adorable folk art decorations! Tuesday, October First, check out The Arts Council of Chester County's Clay Pumpkin Class with Penelope Winslow.
Email artschester@truvista.net for more information or to register.
2. Farm Day at Cotton Hills Farm! 10am-4:30 pm Come get really lost in a cotton maze and scavenger hunt, further lost in a straw maze, see barnyard animals, take a wagon ride through the farm, and pick out the biggest pumpkins you’ve ever seen. How about some live bluegrass and a great, great day? Follow this up with a twilight paddle at the Chester State Park. More details at www.cottonhillsfarm.com.
3. Glamp by Two Mile Creek, adjacent to Chester State Park! Does it sound good to arrive at a campsite with a queen sized double tall air mattress all dressed in comfy sheets and ready for you? Marshmallows ready to roast, camp chairs ready to sit, two house beers ready to hmmm drink, and rainforest friendly coffee sitting in the french press ready for the kettle water you pour over it after the birds wake you up in the brisk fall morning... how does this sound? Still available for most nights in October, so... Here. You. Go. CLICK HERE.
4. Round out this perfecta-quafecta with a big old small town festival. HILLarity in Chester October 19th, including all sorts of vendors, bands, food and activity in one of the single most charming downtowns you’ve very seen! Have your kids ever seen a legitimate puppet show?? Get ready for some small town delight!
